About me

Frederike Asael Photography
Hi and thank you for visiting Eclectic-Domestic.
I’m Bouqui, a New Yorker who has been transplanted to and grown roots in Switzerland. Eclectic means “composed of elements drawn from various sources.” And that’s what this composition is—a blog about my various domestic projects and interests.
Professionally, I work as a freelance editor, proofreader, and translator, but my biggest job is raising my family. I’m a mom to two, a wife to one, and an “accidental homemaker.” I like to think of myself as Chief Home Officer, Social Media Officer, Chef de Cuisine, or Dr. Mom, depending on the day.
I volunteer with the PTA, perform with an amateur theater group, and go undercover as a mystery shopper just for fun in my free time.
I’m passionate about food and about feeding my family healthily. Unfortunately, not everyone in my household is as gung-ho about my protein and plant-forward diet as I am. My elder son is an extremely picky eater, whose dietary choices don’t include fruits or vegetables. For that reason, most of my recipes include adaptations for picky members of your household.
I’m also passionate about avoiding waste and leading my life as sustainably as I can. Part of that is my interest in refashioning old clothes and upcycling old stuff into new, attractive household accessories.
So, welcome to my blog. I’m glad you’re here. Please stay awhile and let me know what you think.
